Our History
1945
At the young age of seventeen, Frank Buscemi joins the Navy at the end of World War II.
1946-1947
Frank works with his uncle at Reliable Spring in Pittston, Pennsylvania. There, he learned the heavy truck repair industry.
1948
In 1948, Frank leaves Pennsylvania in search of a more prosperous future in Buffalo, New York. By happenstance, he stops in Rochester, New York, and never leaves.
1948-1955
Frank takes jobs at Mayday Truck Body, Rochester Coca Cola, and Wynn Spring as he settles in Rochester.
1955
On July 25th, 1955, Frank officially opens Thru-Way Auto Spring Services in a small shared garage on Mt. Read Blvd.
1963
In 1963, Frank expands to a new, larger facility on a 5 acre lot North of his original location.
1978
In 1978, an addition is built to house a spring manufacturing department.
1990
In 1990, Frank and his wife, Lucy, officially retire and sell the business to their children, Louis Buscemi Sr., Gerald Buscemi, and JoAnn Gust.
1998
In 1998, snow removal equipment is added to Thru-Way Spring’s product lines.
2004
In 2004, an addition is built to house equipment service work.
2013
In 2013, leaf spring manufacturing is discontinued after 35 years of service. The building now warehouses extensive equipment inventory.
2017-2019
In 2017-2019, Louis Buscemi Sr., Gerald Buscemi, and JoAnn Gust officially retire and sell the business to their children, Chris Buscemi, Eric Buscemi, Frank Buscemi, Louis Buscemi Jr., Laura Malone, and Rachel Merchant-Borna.
Now, Thru-Way Spring continues to grow its inventory to become the largest equipment and snow and ice control dealer in Western New York.
